WU – Vienna University of Economics and Business Goes Live with Ex Libris Leganto Services, Providing Easy Access to Course Materials

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce WU – Vienna University of Economics and Business has gone live with the Leganto course materials service.

HAMBURG, GERMANY, October 6, 2020 – Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that WU – Vienna University of Economics and Business has gone live with the Ex Libris Leganto® course materials service. The university opted to move to the Leganto service as part of WU’s digitization strategy, which calls for developing new forms of teaching and increasing support for distance learning. With the Leganto rollout, the library was ready to make the transition.

The Leganto solution, branded “read!t” in its implementation at WU, is integrated with the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution, which the university has been using for a number of years. This tight integration facilitates the selection of course materials by lecturers and simplifies their search for titles in the library collection. By promoting collaboration between library staff and lecturers, the Leganto solution helps maximize the use of the library’s own resources.

For students, the Leganto solution provides rapid access to the material required for their courses, thus giving the students more time to actually study the content. The solution also fosters discussion among the students and encourages them to recommend relevant resources to their classmates. In addition, using detailed Leganto analytics, the WU library can better align library holdings with lecturers’ needs and further streamline collection management.

Ulrike Kugler, head of information literacy at WU, commented, “We are happy that our students are now benefiting from seamless access to course resources through Leganto and that faculty members can easily discover resources in the library’s collection and make them available to students. We are already seeing how Leganto is strengthening the role of the library in teaching and learning.”

Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, commented, ”We are glad that Vienna University of Economics and Business has joined the Leganto community. The Leganto solution makes library resources available in a timely manner and fosters an environment that encourages student engagement with their course content.”
