Università Carlo Cattaneo Chooses Ex Libris Esploro Research Services Solution to Increase Research Effectiveness

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce the Università Carlo Cattaneo has selected the Esploro research services solution to simplify the management of the university’s research output and the tracking of research performance.

BOLOGNA, ITALY, January 7, 2020 – Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the Università Carlo Cattaneo (LIUC) has selected the Ex Libris Esploro™ research services solution to simplify the management of the university’s research output and the tracking of research performance.

Facilitating a variety of research management tasks including the enhancement of research object metadata, the deposit of materials, and the updating of scholarly profiles, Esploro will enable the university to increase research effectiveness. Publications managed in Esploro will be published to the Italian Ministry for Education, Universities and Research database (MIUR - Ministero dell'Istruzione, dell'Università e della Ricerca).

Esploro will support a unique collaboration between the library and the research office. With the Ex Libris higher-ed platform already in use at LIUC, including the Alma® library services platform and the Ex Libris Leganto® course reading list solution, the move to Esploro will also strengthen the connection between the library and research activities. This change will help fulfill a strategic goal of the institution, enabling library staff to leverage their skills and technology in support of research processes.

LIUC Library Director Piero Cavaleri commented, “Our library plays a central role in supporting our research, and we found that the system we were using lacked some features that would be useful for the library to be effective. The Esploro solution’s ability to integrate research management procedures was a major factor in our selection of this solution.”

Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris EMEA, said, “We are very pleased that the Università Carlo Cattaneo has chosen to become an early adopter of our Esploro solution, which will help the university streamline its procedures and automatically enrich its systems with minimal effort by researchers and research office administrators.”

About LIUC-Università Cattaneo

LIUC (Università Carlo Cattaneo LIUC) was created in 1989 by the convergent will of 300 entrepreneurs in the province of Varese (UNIVA) and Alto Milanese to create a university that would address economics, law, technology, science, and management, in order to prepare young people for the real needs of the world of business. LIUC is the only Italian university founded and directly managed by an entrepreneurial association. The university was created to provide training that would meet the demands of the business world as closely as possible and is adapted to a local area characterized by the widespread presence of small and medium-size economic activities.
