University of Technology Sydney Selects Ex Libris Alma and Leganto

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce the University of Technology Sydney has chosen the Alma library services platform and Leganto course reading list solution.

ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA, March 19, 2019 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University of Technology Sydney has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and the Ex Libris LegantoTM course reading list solution as the university’s next-generation integrated system to serve students, academic staff, and library patrons. Alma will replace the school’s University’s Innovative Millennium library system.

The Ex Libris solutions will constitute part of the infrastructure needed for UTS to carry out an ambitious transformation strategy: to bring the new UTS Library, Reading Room, and high-tech underground data storage facility seamlessly together in UTS Central—the university’s innovative student hub currently under construction.

Michael Gonzalez, university librarian at the University of Technology Sydney, explained, “We are extremely excited by the opportunities offered through the integrated Alma and Leganto solutions. In the process of selecting the Ex Libris solutions, the Library looked for a system that offers stability, has a clear development path, and, most importantly, provides a cloud platform for the management of our collections. The Alma and Leganto solutions will enable our staff to make informed, confident decisions about how we manage our collections and deliver digital services. With the flexibility of the Alma platform, its APIs, and a software infrastructure that is robust and reliable, we will be able to continue to develop our own solutions. We will use these Ex Libris solutions to explore how the Library can carry on supporting UTS’s 2027 strategy for a lifetime of digital, personalized learning.”

UTS has also committed to joining the ProQuest Rialto™ partner program. The participating universities will help guide the development of the groundbreaking Rialto solution, which aims to unify the selection and acquisition of academic library materials. Gonzalez added, “We hope to use Rialto to unlock our collections in ways that we have not explored before, to build new collections, identify future collections, and hold conversations with our faculty members on how the Library and the breadth of knowledge that we curate can help them realize their strategies and scholarly ambitions.”

Ziv BenZvi, vice president of Ex Libris Asia Pacific, commented, “We look forward to collaborating with UTS in transforming its library with the Alma and Leganto solutions. The cloud-based system will eliminate many administrative tasks, enabling library staff to concentrate on expanding services for all users. We warmly welcome UTS to our active Alma and Leganto communities and to the new Rialto partner program.”
