ProQuest One™ Academic Database Named ‘Outstanding Academic Title’ by Choice Magazine

The ProQuest One Academic database – the new multidisciplinary resource from ProQuest – has been named to Choice Magazine’s highly acclaimed Outstanding Academic Titles list for 2019.

ANN ARBOR, MI, December 3, 2019 – The ProQuest One Academic database – the new multidisciplinary resource from ProQuest – has been named to Choice Magazine’s highly acclaimed Outstanding Academic Titles list for 2019.

Choice is a publication of the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL), a division of the American Library Association. Its annual Outstanding Academic Titles list is highly selective, recognizing only about 10 percent of some 6,000 works reviewed each year.

ProQuest One Academic was ranked as “highly recommended” in its Choice review. Wrote reviewer Amanda Kraft, “Essentially, ProQuest is offering a wide variety of source types used for academic research in a single, cross-searchable platform and continues to deliver the award-winning usability librarians and library users have come to expect…this product offers both substance and style. ProQuest is about as intuitive as it gets.”

ProQuest One Academic brings together more than 250 years of authoritative, curated content available across every discipline and format to one place. It encompasses the entirety of four resources many researchers and libraries rely upon: the ProQuest Central database, the Academic Complete® ebook database, the ProQuest Dissertation & Theses Global database and Academic Video Online, creating a seamless user experience for researchers at all levels. Spanning more than 175 subjects, all content is available and cross-searchable within a single interface (recently awarded “Best Interface” by Charleston Advisor readers).

“Choice is a well-respected voice in the academic community, and we are very honored to receive this recognition,” said Rafael Sidi, Senior Vice President and General Manager, ProQuest Information Solutions. “We’re thankful to all the users and librarians who provided valuable input and shaped the development of ProQuest One Academic. We’ll continue to work with them to develop new products that will deliver improved outcomes in research, teaching and learning.”

ProQuest One Academic is the first product in the ProQuest One initiative, a series of solutions enabling libraries to serve research, teaching and learning mandates, ultimately improving outcomes for their institutions. The initiative’s first discipline-specific product, ProQuest One Literature, debuted in October.

Many other ProQuest products have been named Choice Outstanding Academic Titles in previous years – including the Digital National Security Archive, the Literature Online® database, the Academic Complete® ebook subscription database and Queen Victoria's Journals (among others).
