OASIS® Platform Integrates with Alma® System for Print Book Ordering

Librarians can now order print book titles directly from the Alma library services platform, thanks to a new integration between Alma and OASIS.

ANN ARBOR, MI, January 14, 2019 – Librarians can now order print book titles directly from the Alma library services platform, thanks to a new integration between Alma and OASIS, ProQuest’s search, selection, and ordering system. Alma users have the option to search the extensive OASIS catalog, check book prices, and execute an order – all without leaving the Alma interface.

This “Check Availability and Pricing” API is the latest step in the integration of OASIS and Alma, reflecting ProQuest’s ongoing commitment to improve library workflows after the company’s acquisition of Ex Libris in 2015.

“This integration is an exciting new option for our customers,” said Audrey Marcus, Vice President, Books Product & Operations at ProQuest. “Providing flexibility for librarians to order print titles in the system they use most frequently is another way we’re helping streamline the academic library workflow from selection to acquisition."

“We’re pleased to provide even greater synergy between Alma and OASIS to benefit our joint customers,” said Asaf Kline, Vice President of Product Management at Ex Libris. “The integration will provide further efficiency and ease-of-use to our customer community.”

ProQuest also recently developed a “Real-Time Acquisition” API, a connection between OASIS and Alma primarily designed for selections and acquisitions librarians who often work in OASIS. This API instantly sends orders to Alma once an order is placed in OASIS.

“Integrating the power of OASIS into the Alma platform opens exciting opportunities,” said Rich Belanger, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Books. “ProQuest is committed to also working with other leading ILS vendors to extend the benefits of OASIS integration throughout the library ecosystem.”
