Ara Institute of Canterbury Goes Live with Ex Libris Alma Library Services Platform

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce the New Zealand’s Ara Institute of Canterbury has gone live with the Alma library services platform.

ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA, April 25, 2018 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that New Zealand’s Ara Institute of Canterbury has gone live with the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform, which, together with the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution, is facilitating the management of Ara’s wide range of electronic and physical resources.

Ara Institute of Canterbury sought a new cloud-based and future-proofed system that would handle both electronic and physical assets and support the various acquisition methods that the Institute employs. Ara anticipates that the Alma platform will simplify and centralize the management and control of electronic and physical resources as well as improving access to resources. In addition, the Alma Analytics module will facilitate the tracking of resource usage, enabling the Institute to evaluate its collection and report on the library’s impact on student success.

Dr. Kumaresan Chidambaranathan, manager of Library & Information Services at Ara, noted, “Alma gives us greater control over both our internal configuration and our face to the public and in turn allows us to be more student-focused and responsive. Also, by reducing our reliance on external systems, we are significantly lowering our costs.

“The support from Ex Libris throughout this project has been invaluable, and the company continues to work with us to solve issues and improve our understanding of the system.”

Ziv BenZvi, vice president of Ex Libris Asia Pacific, commented, ”We are excited to welcome Ara Institute of Canterbury to our growing New Zealand Alma community. The cloud-based, future-facing Alma platform will support Ara’s mission of providing a world-class education to a new generation of New Zealanders.”
