University of Limerick Goes Live with Ex Libris Alma and Primo

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce the University of Limerick are now using the Alma library services platform and Primo discovery and delivery solution.

LONDON, UK, March 6, 2017 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that after 19 years on a legacy library management system, the University of Limerick is now using the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Primo® discovery and delivery solution. In addition, the university is currently in the implementation stages of the Ex Libris LegantoSM course reading list solution, which is scheduled to go live in the third quarter of 2017.

The university’s migration from the Capita Alto library management system to Alma has given Limerick an opportunity to simplify its workflows and lower the costs associated with third-party software.

Library Director Gobnait O’Riordan said, “Our new library spaces, which contain our pioneering automated storage and retrieval system, and the move to Alma and Primo illustrate our commitment to providing the latest in library services with the most innovative technologies. In addition, Primo will enable us to integrate discovery more tightly with our library services platform, and Leganto will increase students’ engagement with the library.”

Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris EMEA, commented, “I congratulate the skilled, committed staff at the University of Limerick and the Ex Libris professional services team, who collaborated closely to carry out the implementation smoothly. This is the first Alma and Primo site in Ireland and is already benefiting from the experience of over one hundred institutions using Alma in Europe.”
