University of Calgary Selects Ex Libris Alma and Primo Solutions

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce the University of Calgary has selected the Alma library services platform and Primo discovery and delivery solution.

CHICAGO, IL, August 24, 2017 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University of Calgary has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Primo® discovery and delivery solution. Alma will be replacing the SirsiDynix Symphony® integrated library system.

The University of Calgary’s Libraries and Cultural Resources (LCR), which operates seven libraries on campus and across the city, used a rigorous evaluation process to identify a system that applies the latest technologies and is built on a cloud-based, software-as-a-solution (SaaS) platform with automatic updates and streamlined workflows. Alma and Primo were the solutions of choice.

The Alma platform will enable the university to optimize library management processes and will provide the analytics that are essential for making increasingly complex decisions. Primo will facilitate users’ access to the University of Calgary’s high-quality resources through its customizable interface, comprehensive search capabilities, and personalized search results. In addition, the many configuration options offered by Primo will enable Calgary to meet the needs of its partners in the Southern Alberta Integrated Libraries (SAIL) consortium.

The University of Calgary’s Vice-Provost and University Librarian Tom Hickerson noted, “Libraries and Cultural Resources is at the center of an innovative research program to develop the future of libraries. As we continue to enhance our spaces and capabilities for research in the Taylor Family Digital Library, Alma and Primo are the solutions that support our vision for addressing future needs.”

“We are excited that Alma and Primo were selected as the bold new direction in library technology promoted by University of Calgary, named in the highest-ranked universities of the QS ‘Top 50 Under 50’ list,” commented Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America. “We are pleased that the University of Calgary has joined the growing Canadian community of Ex Libris users utilizing Alma, Primo and our new Canadian Data Center.”
