Universitat Politècnica de València Selects Ex Libris Alma and Primo

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce the Universitat Politècnica de València has chosen the Alma resource management service and Primo discovery and delivery solution.

BARCELONA, SPAIN, January 9, 2017 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the Universitat Politècnica de València, a customer of Ex Libris Aleph® since 2000, has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® resource management service and Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution to help the library meet its strategic goals of improving the library’s efficiency, modernizing services, and transforming physical spaces to enhance the research experience at the University.

Elias Chumillas, director of the library, explained, “The University’s decision to invest in digital resources as a means of reimagining the physical spaces in our library so that students and professors have an inviting area for collaboration and research gave us the ideal opportunity to reevaluate our library services and discovery platform. After assessing the capabilities of the cloud-based Alma and Primo solutions, we reached the conclusion that they are optimal solutions to help us achieve these goals.”

As part of its modernization program, the library plans to reorganize its work processes to avoid the duplication of tasks and to improve collection management by consolidating the systems and processes used in various collections. In addition, the library looks forward to saving on costs by moving from locally managed hardware and services to a cloud-based solution.

“Alma and Primo will help us manage physical and digital collections more efficiently through the streamlining of processes, integration with other campus systems, and comprehensive Alma analytics. The SaaS model will enable us to redirect resources that up to now were dedicated to the management and maintenance of software systems and hardware,” added Chumillas.

Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris EMEA, commented, “We are delighted that the Universitat Politècnica de València has decided to remain with us as it enhances its systems to deliver modern, efficient library services to students, professors, and researchers. I welcome the University to the growing community of Alma and Primo institutions in Spain.”
