State Library Victoria Chooses Ex Libris Rosetta for Digital Asset Management, Collection, and Preservation

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce the State Library Victoria has chosen the Rosetta digital preservation system to manage its digital resources.

ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA, February 2, 2017 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that State Library Victoria has chosen the Ex Libris Rosetta digital preservation system to manage its digital resources and sustain them in perpetuity. Rosetta will be replacing the library’s DigiTool® digital asset management system.

State Library Victoria sought a system that would enable the library to collect, manage, and preserve digital assets. The ideal solution would integrate with the Library’s other core systems and provide a smooth migration pathway. User experience was a key requirement: the system should allow the Library to provide intuitive, powerful, and playful digital interfaces for current and future users, enabling the development of new players according to the Library’s needs.

State Library Victoria CEO Kate Torney explained, “The State Library has always been about providing the greatest number of people with free, open access to information. Our transition to Rosetta is the next step in making our collections available in a broad and meaningful way.”

Sarah Slade, Head of Digital Engagement and Collection Services at State Library Victoria, added, “The Library’s digitized and born digital collections play a central role in putting people at the heart of its offering and removing barriers to access. Rosetta will be a crucial part of an integrated offering enabling all Library patrons to discover, access, and use the Library's growing digital collection, now and in the future.”

Ziv BenZvi, vice president of Ex Libris Asia Pacific, commented, “We are thrilled to welcome State Library Victoria to the Rosetta community. The integrated functions of digital collection, management, and preservation that Rosetta provides will help the State Library’s collections continue to grow while enlightening Victorians and visitors alike.”
