University of Haifa Goes Live with Ex Libris Alma

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce the University of Haifa’s Younes and Soraya Nazarian Library is adopting the Alma library management service.

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL, November 23, 2016 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University of Haifa’s Younes and Soraya Nazarian Library is the first university library in Israel to go live with the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform. Alma replaced the Aleph® integrated library system and is integrated with the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution.

The Haifa University Library is known as an innovator among Israeli libraries. The Library is a longtime Aleph user, and so it was a natural step for the University to move to Alma to automate and streamline the library’s operations for print, electronic, and digital materials. As a cloud-based solution, Alma reduces overhead and enables the University of Haifa staff to direct their resources toward supporting users in learning, research, and teaching.

“As a pioneering institution, the University of Haifa Library has always focused on the best technologies to strengthen our library operations,” commented Library Director Pnina Erez. “Our implementation of Alma has been a seamless part of this approach.”

Deputy Library Director Naomi Greidinger added, “We have partnered with Ex Libris to ensure that Alma supports the University of Haifa’s diverse user community, as well as fulfilling the needs of other institutions in Israel. We will enjoy the benefits of a unified system for management of our print, digital, and electronic collections.”

Matti Shem Tov, CEO and president of Ex Libris, remarked: “Going live at the University of Haifa is an important milestone for Alma. The University has been our close partner for over 20 years, and now it has the full benefit of Alma’s unified workflows, collaborative capabilities, and insightful analytics. The University of Haifa is the first university library in Israel to go live with Alma.”
