University of Bergamo Selects Ex Libris Alma to Help Deliver Modern, Innovative Library Services

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that Italy’s University of Bergamo has chosen the Ex Libris Alma library management service.

BOLOGNA, ITALY, November 28, 2016 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that Italy’s University of Bergamo has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® library management service to help the University Library meet its strategy of developing innovative services that will enhance the teaching, learning, and research experience at the University.

Library Director Ennio Ferrante explained, “The move to Alma from Ex Libris Aleph gives us an opportunity to completely upgrade the library information system while retaining and developing interoperability with campus systems that are already in place. We will continue to expand our library services to support the constantly growing range of resources, formats, and media that modern academic libraries must manage.”

The library team at Bergamo will take advantage of Alma to create workflows that are based on best practices. Taking into account local resources and policies, the team will standardize processes and collaborate with all members of the library staff, thus expanding competencies and increasing job satisfaction.

Alma will be integrated with the Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution, which will provide access to a vast quantity of bibliographic and e-resource data. A shared catalog in the community zone will foster collaboration with local, national, and international partners. In addition, the advanced analytics built into Alma will facilitate decision making and empower library staff to solve problems more rapidly.

Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris EMEA, remarked, “The University of Bergamo has been a customer of Ex Libris for many years, and I am delighted that the library has opted for Ex Libris solutions to deliver a modern, efficient library service to students, lecturers, and researchers.”
