Ex Libris Expands Its Operations and Increases Its Investment in the Spanish Market

Ex Libris is pleased to announce it is increasing its investment in the Spanish market and has reached an agreement with its Barcelona-based partner GreenData.

LONDON, UK, and BARCELONA, SPAIN, May 20, 2016 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that it is increasing its investment in the Spanish market and has reached an agreement with its Barcelona-based partner, GreenData, that will see Ex Libris playing a direct role in the Spanish market.

Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris EMEA, explained, “The growing success that we have had in Spain with our cloud-based, next-generation solutions—the Ex Libris Alma® resource management service and Primo® discovery and delivery solution—means that we need to have a more direct relationship with our Spanish customers. In the past week, two leading universities in Spain, the University of Deusto and Alfonso X El Sabio University, announced their move to Alma. Our decision to invest in the Spanish market will enable us to build on this momentum, enhancing the levels of service and support that we give our customers while developing stronger relationships with the market.”

Under the agreement, GreenData will remain an Ex Libris business development partner while the marketing, sales, and support responsibilities will move to Ex Libris. GreenData’s solutions experts, sales team, and support personnel for Ex Libris products will become part of the Ex Libris team and will continue to operate from GreenData’s Barcelona office. The expanded team will also work closely with Madrid-based Ex Libris and ProQuest staff, thus increasing the size and reach of Ex Libris in Spain.

Mosseri added, “With this new operational model, Ex Libris will be able to work more closely with our Spanish customers, whose usual contact people will continue in their current roles as part of the Ex Libris team.

“I would like to thank GreenData and Jorge Albalate for the instrumental role that they have played in developing the Spanish market and for the care and professionalism with which they have looked after our Spanish customers.”

Jorge Albalate, founder of GreenData, said, “GreenData and Ex Libris have mutually agreed that it is beneficial to transition to a direct operation and distribution model throughout the Spanish market so that clients can benefit from the Ex Libris infrastructure and international team. GreenData will continue to partner and collaborate with Ex Libris regarding business development.”
