ACT Health Chooses Ex Libris Alma and Primo for Canberra Hospital Library
ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA, December 7, 2016 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that ACT Health, the body responsible for health services in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), has chosen to implement the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution at the Canberra Hospital library to provide medical information for doctors, nurses, and allied health clinicians. These solutions will replace the library’s Innovative Interfaces Sierra integrated library system (ILS).
ACT Health chose the Alma and Primo solutions primarily for their cloud-based platform and customizable design. The service and support reputation of Ex Libris also played a major role in the decision.
Saroj Bhatia, director of ACT Health Directorate Library and Multimedia Services at Canberra Hospital, explained, “It was important for ACT Health to have a single, unified resource management system. The new integrated platform will enable our library staff to manage library data and workflows in a cloud-based system that has been designed for this complex digital age. Our delivery and discovery services also need to be user friendly for our library community and support user customizations. Search results for all library resources—print and digital—will now be displayed in a consolidated format, enhanced by Primo discovery capabilities. The cloud-based platform of Alma and Primo means that the integrated system will be easy to manage, maintain, modify, and update.”
Ziv BenZvi, vice president of Ex Libris Asia Pacific, remarked, “We are delighted that ACT Health has chosen Alma and Primo to provide information services at Canberra Hospital, addressing the needs of the hospital staff. We welcome ACT Health to the Ex Libris user community.”
