Adoption of ProQuest’s Transformative Library Services Platform Demonstrates Positive Shift by Libraries Worldwide

Since the introduction of Intota™ last June for electronic resource management, close to 80 libraries worldwide have selected ProQuest’s cloud-based library services platform.

SEATTLE, WA, June 25, 2015 – Since the introduction of Intota™ last June for electronic resource management, close to 80 libraries worldwide have selected ProQuest’s cloud-based library services platform, which also includes industry-leading discovery, linking, assessment and unified intelligent workflows across the lifecycle of collections. Libraries are responding favorably to ProQuest’s phased approach to developing a transformative service that immediately solves for inadequacies in the traditional ILS. Unlike other services in the market, Intota simplifies workflows and addresses the major challenges libraries face today: collection assessment and e-resource management. With increasing pressure on budgets, libraries using Intota can focus on service to end users and deliver greater value to their institutions.

Available at the end of September, the next release of Intota v1 will enable license and e-resource sharing among libraries. This new capability will simplify institutional e-resource sharing for libraries with centralized collection management, or libraries in a consortia. Without having to key in redundant database configuration or license information, shared resources (database and holdings) will automatically flow to discovery services without any mediation, delivering uninterrupted user access to new resources.

The following institutions join the growing community of forward-thinking libraries using Intota.

Grand Valley State University UCLA
Missouri Southern State University University of Texas – Austin
Montgomery College University of Texas – San Antonio
Pittsburg State University University of Waikato (New Zealand)

“Customers tell us that they are seeing improved efficiencies with the new workflows Intota provides. Support for automated DDA is just one example of this,” said Jane Burke, vice president, market development, ProQuest. “The resource sharing capability we are developing for the next release of Intota v1 is another enabler for libraries to quantify their value. Whether the library is in a consortia, or one with multiple branches or affiliations, resource sharing helps libraries stretch their collection budgets further.”

Intota is a transformative cloud-based library services platform designed to address the key needs of modern libraries—managing both electronic and print collections across the entire collection lifecycle. Powered by a comprehensive next generation knowledgebase, Intota leverages ProQuest’s unparalleled electronic resource management expertise, and industry-leading discovery, linking and assessment solutions. Built using unified intelligent workflows and a linked data metadata engine, Intota increases the presence of the library by better connecting resources, people and places while facilitating knowledge exploration and acquisition on the web, bringing unprecedented value to libraries and researchers worldwide.

Available now, Intota v1 provides immediate benefits by solving the challenges of collection assessment and e-resource management. Intota v2, available mid-2016, will provide acquisitions, description and delivery capabilities and support management of both electronic and print collections. Intota v2 will enable libraries to replace their legacy ILS and evolve their services in the rapidly changing digital knowledge economy.
