Tomsk State University (Russia) meets multidisciplinary needs through ProQuest

Tomsk State University in Russia turned to ProQuest to assist them in finding a solution to help meet their multidisciplinary needs and to also make search and access easier for users. The university was also looking for a variety of content databases to enhance the information available to their students and researchers.

Tomsk State University in Russia is one of the top 15 Russian Leading Universities. Founded in 1878, it is the oldest university in Russian Asia, in Siberia, and is an educational institution with over 17,000 students. They turned to ProQuest to assist them in finding a solution to help meet their multidisciplinary needs and to also make search and access easier for users. The university was also looking for a variety of content databases to enhance the information available to their students and researchers.

In order to maintain its high standards of delivering essential content to its users, the university approached ProQuest and after successful trials of various key collection databases, they chose the ProQuest SciTech Collection to offer full-text access with comprehensive discovery (through extensive abstracts in the fields of natural science, technology, and engineering).  In addition, they also chose ProQuest Psychology Journals, providing access to full-text journals and dissertations covering clinical and social psychology, as well as related fields such as genetics, psychology of business and economics, communication, criminology, addiction, neurology, and social welfare.

To enhance research further, Tomsk State University purchased ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global (PQDT Global), a full collection of theses and dissertations from premier universities across the globe, provided exclusively by ProQuest. This content enables access to papers previously unreachable by the university.

To support students and scholars of English Literature, Tomsk State University selected Literature Online (LION), the most comprehensive online research tool available for English. LION combines primary works, reference materials, and literary criticism together in a cross-searchable platform. This reduces the work of managing journal subscriptions and saves budget on print books. For faculty and students, it creates opportunities for new forms of study and analysis.

ProQuest Arts & Humanities - Full Text helps Tomsk State University meet the needs of researchers studying the array of disciplines within the arts and humanities. The resource provides searchable access to the full text of around 400 specialist magazines and periodicals in the arts and humanities, including scholarly journals, and trade and consumer titles covering ethnic studies, women’s studies, sociology, cultural studies, and more.
