ProQuest Establishes Key Ebooks Partnership with Leading Irish Booksellers

ProQuest Ebooks has partnered with O’Mahony’s, Irish booksellers and library suppliers, to deliver key content from leading publishers to institutions across Ireland and the UK.

CAMBRIDGE, UNITED KINGDOM, September 16, 2014 – ProQuest Ebooks has partnered with O’Mahony’s, Irish booksellers and library suppliers, to deliver key content from leading publishers to institutions across Ireland and the UK.

This new partnership will enable O’Mahony’s customers to purchase over 600,000 ebook titles, which can be chosen title-by-title and then owned outright by the library. The titles are offered through ProQuest ebook companies ebrary and EBL.
O’Mahony’s will also be selling ebooks via ebrary and EBL’s Demand Driven Acquisition (DDA) models. DDA provides libraries access to vast numbers of titles of the institution’s choice with no purchase necessary unless the content is used by researchers.

Founded in 1902, O’Mahony’s is a family run Irish business that supplies core books to the academic sector and the general public. They are the first Irish company to act as a single source supplier for shelf-ready books and ebooks. This new partnership with O’Mahony’s will supply both their historical print collections and now ebooks, leveraging both the ebrary and EBL catalogues, bringing them to the forefront of book selling to Higher and Further Education, governmental and corporate organisations in Ireland.

Chairman of O’Mahony’s Booksellers, David O’Mahony said, “Delivering essential materials within all categories is essential to the work of O’Mahony’s. We strive to provide both a fantastic service along with the resources needed.  By providing key ebooks through the ProQuest collections we are now able to fulfil our mission of providing what is required.”

Kari Paulson, ProQuest Vice President and General Manager, Ebooks said, “This is a fantastic partnership for ProQuest. O’Mahony’s are a longstanding, well-respected book supplier and we are pleased to be working together to enhance our respective offerings to the Irish market.”

With an extensive catalogue of ebook titles from premier international academic publishers, EBL and ebrary are renowned as pioneers of flexible, innovative access models such as Demand Driven Acquisition, Academic Complete subscription and the EBL Non-Linear Lending™ model.  ProQuest is committed to broadening the discovery and accessibility of ebooks to researchers and libraries globally, which is the key aim of the integration of EBL and ebrary into a single ebook solution.
