ProQuest Enriches Ebook Value with New Content and Features in ebrary Academic Complete
Mountain View, CA, June 16, 2014 – ProQuest has added more than 1,650 ebook titles from renowned publishers Wiley and Wolters Kluwer Health to Academic Complete®, the flagship ebook database from ebrary®. The new content will improve research outcomes, while a new enhancement for the database – the popular LibraryThing for Libraries™ Book Display Widget – will enable libraries to easily display the titles visually for better discoverability and usage.
“ebrary is committed to meeting the demands of libraries who want to make the most of their collection budgets and deliver the highest quality content and features to their users,” said Kari Paulson, vice-president and general manager, ProQuest Ebooks. “The new titles from Wiley and Wolters Kluwer Health are an important expansion of ebrary’s service because of their extraordinary quality and comprehensiveness. And we’re delighted that the LibraryThing for Libraries Book Display Widget will further promote ebook collections.”
All new and renewal subscriptions to Academic Complete will include the LibraryThing for Libraries Book Display Widget, enabling libraries to create virtual book displays of key titles on their homepage, catalog, Facebook page, blog and other digital display areas. ProQuest pre-loads the widget for libraries to make set-up fast and easy.
The widget provides libraries with more options for promoting titles, including the new additions from Wiley – more than 1,400 titles – and those from Wolters Kluwer Health, a total of 270 essential medical titles, including such seminal texts as Lippincott Manual of Nursing Practice, Chapman's Orthopaedic Surgery, Radiology 101: The Basics and Fundamentals of Imaging, Clinical Anesthesia and Cancer: Principles & Practice of Oncology. More than 700 other titles from Wolters Kluwer Health are available for purchase and via patron-driven acquisition (PDA) through the ebrary ebooks platform, increasing the flexibility libraries have in acquisition and delivery to their users of these highly sought academic works. Linking technology enables all of the content to be searched along with the vast range of periodicals, newspapers and reports on the ProQuest platform, making the process of research faster and more comprehensive.
Both ebrary and EBL - Ebook Library® collections are full-text indexed and holdings can be automatically updated in the ProQuest Summon® service for simple discovery and access. Further, through ProQuest's collaborations with Ex Libris and OCLC, titles are discoverable through Ex Libris' Primo Central and OCLC WorldCat. Holdings can also be automatically updated in WorldCat and WorldShare Management Services (WMS).
