APA Makes Hundreds of Current Ebooks Available for Individual Purchase through ebrary®

The American Psychological Association (APA), the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States and the world’s largest association of psychologists, has joined forces with ProQuest ebook business ebrary to make more than 250 titles published since 2009 available electronically on the ebrary platform.

MOUNTAIN  VIEW, CA, November 13, 2014 – Libraries around the world can now acquire the essential Psychology and Behavioral and Social Sciences titles researchers need under flexible models that meet their budget requirements.

The American Psychological Association (APA), the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States and the world’s largest association of psychologists, has joined forces with ProQuest ebook business ebrary to make more than 250 titles published since 2009 available electronically on the ebrary platform. For the first time, individual scholarly, professional, and reference titles, select APA LifeTools® trade titles, and other ebooks will be available to libraries for individual purchase under Perpetual Archive (PA), Demand-driven Acquisition (DDA), and Short-term Loans (STL) models. Libraries can purchase APA titles including the APA Dictionary of Statistics and Research Methods and Medical Family Therapy and Integrated Care, Second Edition, directly through ebrary or global distribution partners including YBP and Coutts.

“By teaming with ebrary to distribute electronic versions of APA’s scholarly, professional, and trade titles, APA is providing libraries with more flexible options for incorporating our titles into their collections” said APA Publisher Gary R. VandenBos, PhD.  “APA is continuing to seek out new partnerships to increase the accessibility of our content.”

“Psychology is one of the most popular majors among undergraduate students worldwide, and according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of psychologists is expected to increase approximately 12 percent through 2018*,” said Kari Paulson, vice-president and general manager, ProQuest Ebooks. “In light of these trends we anticipate a growing demand for authoritative, current ebooks to support psychology and related programs. We are excited to combine our expertise on flexible ebook models and research tools with quality Science and Psychology content from APA, the leading authority on these subjects.”
