RefWorks-COS Launches RefWorks 2.0 Beta

RefWorks-COS is pleased to announce that it has launched RefWorks 2.0, the next generation of its web-based research management, writing and collaboration tool, used by over 3 million researchers, students and librarians worldwide.

BETHESDA, MD, April 1, 2010 – RefWorks-COS is pleased to announce that it has launched RefWorks 2.0, the next generation of its web-based research management, writing and collaboration tool, used by over 3 million researchers, students and librarians worldwide.

Currently in beta release, RefWorks 2.0 is a new user interface for the RefWorks service, putting all of RefWorks’ sophisticated features right at users’ fingertips. Employing the latest web technologies and conventions makes RefWorks 2.0 easier to navigate, providing a more intuitive, faster user experience.

Planning and development for RefWorks 2.0 began with reviewing feedback, analyzing usage habits and conducting surveys of RefWorks users globally. The new interface focuses on usability and the functional needs of end users, incorporating contemporary design elements to make all of RefWorks’ functions and features easily accessible.

“We’re very excited to release our new interface. We wanted to ensure that this new design would meet current and future needs of our diverse user population, by establishing a clean, highly usable, streamlined look,” said Colleen Stempien, RefWorks-COS’ Executive Director of Operations. “The new interface is poised to take RefWorks in an innovative direction.”

During the beta period, both the RefWorks “Classic” and RefWorks 2.0 interface will run in tandem, providing RefWorks administrators and users ample time to familiarize themselves prior to the transition.

An updated RefWorks logo is also being introduced with the new interface, along with a new RefWorks-COS corporate website which contains information about all RefWorks-COS products, as well as links to logins, support, training and the new Resource Center.
