HighWire Press, the leading online technology provider in scholarly publishing, is proud to announce that it has become a key content partner in Serials Solutions’ KnowledgeWorks Certification program.

HighWire Press, the leading online technology provider in scholarly publishing, is proud to announce that it has become a key content partner in Serials Solutions’ KnowledgeWorks Certification program. With this partnership, HighWire and Serials Solutions will actively work together to make publishers’ content accurate and easy to find so that readers may access the information they need within their library systems.

“Facilitating the discoverability of our publishers’ content is one of HighWire’s top priorities, and working with knowledge-base developers such as Serials Solutions is a logical step in that goal,” said John Sack, HighWire’s Director. “Many of the readers of the content we host online come from subscribing institutions, and Serials Solutions will help perfect the way in which these readers can find and use content via their libraries.”

The partnership with Serials Solutions is the latest in the HighWire Discoverability Initiative,  which works to provide clear and easy access to HighWire-hosted content from as many points as possible on the web and other digital avenues. This initiative is designed to increase visibility and findability of HighWire-hosted publishers’ content and involves active partnerships with Google, Yahoo!, Microsoft, the National Library of Medicine and other leading search and dissemination operations.

Serials Solutions collects bibliographic metadata then cross checks with the Library of Congress and other authority-based data sources in order to normalize the data. HighWire joins thirteen other content providers in the KnowledgeWorks Certification program collaborating to ensure that bibliographic metadata is represented accurately and up to date in the Serials Solutions KnowledgeWorks knowledgebase.

“With HighWire participating in the KnowledgeWorks Certification program on behalf of its publishers, librarians will be able to trust that they are getting the best possible access to e-resources,” said Sherrard Ewing, Provider Relations Specialist at Serials Solutions. “Data inquiries will be resolved quickly and HighWire-hosted publishers’ content will be easier to find.”

KnowledgeWorks Certified is a new publisher certification program from Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest. The KnowledgeWorks Certification program helps Serials Solutions to maintain the highest quality bibliographic metadata for e-resources.
