ProQuest is now offering The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News in ProQuest Newsstand

ProQuest now offers the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News (1983 - present) through ProQuest's award-winning online interface.

"Through ProQuest Newsstand, we provide faster, more precise access to content from the nation's most important papers," said Rod Gauvin, senior vice president of publishing for ProQuest.  "The inclusion of The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News means that ProQuest now provides even broader and deeper coverage from Pennsylvania and the Northeast, and a new perspective on global events.  These additions are part of our continued goal of adding newspaper content to meet the needs of libraries across the U.S. and around the world."

Users can now search the comprehensive coverage of these two renowned Philadelphia papers.  The Philadelphia Inquirer, the third oldest surviving newspaper in the U.S., is one of the top 20 newspapers by circulation, and has won 18 Pulitzer prizes.  This paper has 11 bureaus around suburban Philadelphia and the U.S., as well as 5 international bureaus.   Philadelphia Daily News, a tabloid newspaper that began in 1925, now has circulation of almost 114,000 readers.  Philadelphia Daily News is very city-oriented with passionate coverage of local news and sports.

Providing more local, regional, and national content is part of ProQuest's strategy to create a total news solution for libraries, serving all their needs through a single source. ProQuest's extensive current news collection contains more than 500 newspapers from around the world, including over 350 full-text titles.  ProQuest's news solutions also include the ProQuest Historical Newspapers program with more than 19 million full-page images from important U.S. and British newspapers and unique delivery systems such as NewspaperDirect PressDisplay, which provides libraries with direct access to more than 450 current international and domestic dailies in full-image, full-page format.
