Serials Solutions Central Search Offers Access to LexisNexis Academic
Joint customers of Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest Information and Learning, and LexisNexis U.S., a leading provider of information and services solutions, will now be able to search the LexisNexis® Academic service through Central Search, Serials Solutions’ federated search engine, via an XML gateway. Serials Solutions recently enhanced Central Search with results clustering, which organizes search results into subject-based groupings. This technology is especially well suited for the variety of news, business and legal materials present in LexisNexis Academic.
“Serials Solutions chose to connect to LexisNexis Academic via an XML gateway rather than use one of the HTML screen scraping techniques used by some federated search engines,” said JR Jenkins, group product manager for Serials Solutions. “The quality of the connection is better—faster and more stable—and the metadata retrieved is higher quality.
