Serials Solutions Launches E-Resource Management System
Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest Information and Learning, launched its E-Resource Management System (ERMS), enabling 20 subscribing libraries immediate access to the system. ERMS includes fully-hosted functionalities that allow libraries to control selection, acquisition and management of all their e-resources.
"ERMS is distinctly different from other vendors’ offerings. It leverages Serials Solutions’ industry-leading knowledgebase by combining it with unique, feature-rich analytical tools that simplify management of the e-resource lifecycle," said Jane Burke, general manager of Serials Solutions. "It eliminates the need for loading and maintaining base e-resource metadata, while enabling a broad spectrum of benefits that are impossible in systems that lack a knowledgebase."
Serials Solutions’ unique focus on analytical tools extends beyond data storage. ERMS converts data into actionable information and insights. For example, librarians can run "what if" scenarios to evaluate their collection in comparison to peer library data. This analysis helps them evaluate prospective changes. As a result, librarians can reduce the amount of time required to manage their collection, reduce costs to purchase and maintain it, and help grow a collection to fit their library’s needs.
ERMS is a core element of Serials Solutions’ mission to deliver complete solutions for today’s electronic collections. It is tightly integrated with industry-leading resource discovery products, including Central Search, Article Linker, Full MARC Records, and Access and Management Suite (AMS); libraries can integrate ERMS with Serials Solutions’ applications or use it as a stand-alone solution.
