Serials Solutions adds Alternative Title Searching functionality

Serials Solutions released Alternative Title Searching functionality for its industry-leading Access & Management Suite (AMS) and OpenURL link resolver, Article Linker. More than 1,500 libraries around the world are able to take immediate advantage of this new feature that enables library staff and patrons to more quickly and easily find specific journals within their electronic collection.

Alternative Title Searching enables a patron to find a specific journal using a broad set of titles that a journal may possess, including abbreviated titles. A patron can now find and access their library’s holdings for a journal, regardless of whether they entered the uniform title, former titles, or an abbreviation of the title. This ensures that librarians and patrons using Serials Solutions’ services will be able to more rapidly find and use all of the e-resources available to them.

A feature much requested by librarians, alternative title searching is made possible by Serials Solutions’ comprehensive knowledge base and the extensive data normalization processes performed by the company’s on-site librarians and data management team.

"We’re excited to be able to release a tool that many librarians have requested," commented Mike Showalter, MLS, group product manager at Serials Solutions. "Building upon the tremendous investment we’ve made in our knowledge base, we’re once again able to help librarians and patrons more quickly find the resources they’re looking for."

Because the services are hosted by Serials Solutions, no work is required of subscribing libraries to take advantage of this new feature.
