Serials Solutions again brings greater value to libraries

A 2004 news release detailing initiatives on behalf of Serials Solutions to provide greater value to libraries.

Serials Solutions, part of ProQuest Information and Learning, today introduced two initiatives to provide greater value to libraries. First, Serials Solutions will hold its 2004 price schedule in place through calendar year 2005, with no increases to the schedule. Second, the company will offer additional licensing alternatives to provide greater flexibility to libraries. Both of these options permit libraries to lock in their service price for a longer period of time, guaranteeing their price even further into the future.

Steve McCracken, co-founder and vice president of Serials Solutions, said, "We’ve worked with libraries that have faced extremely difficult financial pressures over the last two years. We’ve been honored that, in spite of this pressure, each month more and more libraries select Serials Solutions. Due to the sheer numbers of libraries that have subscribed to our services this past year, we are able to maintain our 2004 pricing schedule for 2005."

McCracken announced an additional step that will help libraries better manage their e-journal services budget. "Effective today, we are offering three and five-year licensing options for our products. By paying a single fee up-front and small annual maintenance fee, libraries will be able to realize savings over the term of the agreement and have greater budget certainty over time."

"These new options allow us to continue to better meet the budgeting needs of our clients and offer greater flexibility for libraries wanting to use technology-targeted grant funds," said McCracken.

This marks the second year in a row that Serials Solutions has held the line on price increases. Serials Solutions is making a commitment to maintain its pricing schedule through January 1, 2006. Historically, Serials Solutions has been unique in the library industry for publicly posting prices for its products and services, including E-Journal A.M.S., Article Linker and its Full MARC Records service.

Libraries that would like additional information or to see how these announced programs will affect their services are encouraged to contact Serials Solutions directly at 866-SERIALS (737-4257) or 206-545-9056.
