ProQuest Improves Visibility for Ebook Discounts and Promotions

Enhanced functionality helps libraries take advantage of discounted pricing and current promotions for Ebook Central, Rialto, OASIS

After years of ongoing work with librarians to build a better book-purchasing experience, ProQuest is proud to announce new functionality that brings more transparency to pricing. New pricing displays in Ebook Central, Rialto and OASIS help libraries take advantage of all available discounts and promotions on books, giving librarians more opportunities to maximize budgets.

These improved pricing displays will help purchasers ensure that they don’t miss out on ProQuest and publisher discounts or special promotions – including those with deadlines for limited-time offers. These displays were implemented Talis Aspire, used by libraries use to create and manage resource lists to support curriculum, late last year.

Here’s how it works: when a requested book is requested through the ProQuest Ebook Central platform, or the Rialto or OASIS marketplaces, the systems will now clearly display prices, discounts and promotions. The details are library-specific, taking into account the library’s region, currency settings, and other factors. The goal is to provide full price transparency at every stage of a library’s workflow, regardless of which system is used to acquire books.

“To help libraries get the most for their budgets, we’ve prioritized making pricing and acquisition options clear and simple for our customers to navigate,” said Audrey Marcus, Vice President of Product Management at ProQuest. “The rise in demand for ebooks and other e-content has propelled the need for even more transparency. These small changes will hopefully make a big difference for libraries growing their ebook collections.”
