Terms of Use – ETD Dashboard

Welcome to the ProQuest ETD Dashboard web-based service (“ETD Dashboard”), providing institutions and their graduate programs with visual snapshots of data generated from the submission, usage and retrieval of their dissertations and theses (“Works”) on ProQuest’s online research database platforms.

This web-based service is controlled and operated by ProQuest LLC (“ProQuest”), and those institutions who access and use this web-based service (each a “Institution”) are responsible for assessing whether the services provided are appropriate for their use. ProQuest provides ETD Dashboard subject to the following Terms of Use:

1. Institution Accounts. Institution will need its own ETD Dashboard account to use the service, and Institutions and their designated authorized users (typically Institution’s graduate school Deans, librarians, and their program staff) will be required to be logged in to an account to use the Institution’s dashboard. Each Institution is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of its account and its passwords or other authentication methods and for restricting access to its account(s). Each account user is acting on behalf of its Institution and represents that they are authorized to make any of the elections they choose within the service. ProQuest is not responsible for any liability arising from any unauthorized use of ETD Dashboard, and Institution accepts responsibility for all activities that occur under its account(s).
2. Permitted Uses – ETD Dashboard. ETD Dashboard is made available for the use of Institution and its graduate programs in the evaluation of the use of its graduate school dissertations and theses submitted to ProQuest for inclusion in ProQuest’s research databases. Use of the service by the Institution is allowed consistent with the features and functionality built into the ETD Dashboard service, and may be used for reports or visualizations to be shared within or outside the Institution. The license granted to Institution and its authorized users for use of ETD Dashboard expressly prohibits any reverse engineering, resale or commercial use of ETD Dashboard or any of its software, services, reports or data. Neither the Institution nor its authorized users may use ETD Dashboard or any reports or data therefrom in any manner that acts as a substitute for ETD Dashboard. ProQuest reserves the right to deny access to Institutions or their authorized users at any time in its sole discretion.
3. Dashboard Information. ProQuest attempts to ensure ETD Dashboard information, features and functionality are as accurate as possible, however ProQuest does not warrant that the features, functionality, data or other content in ETD Dashboard is accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free. ProQuest may use anonymized data derived from information gathered by ProQuest in the course of the Institution’s use of ETD Dashboard as well as any feedback or suggestions shared by users, in the administration of Institution’s account as well as to improve ETD Dashboard or ProQuest’s other services. The anonymized data includes data that describes the habits, usage patterns, and/or demographics of Institutions or users as a group but does not describe or reveal the identity of any particular user.
4. Liability Disclaimer. ETD DASHBOARD IS PROVIDED TO INSTITUTION AND ITS AUTHORIZED USERS “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND INCLUDING ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN NO EVENT SHALL PROQUEST BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY CONNECTED WITH THE USE OF ETD DASHBOARD OR THE DATA DERIVED THEREFROM, INCLUDING ANY THE DELAY OR INABILITY TO USE ETD DASHBOARD, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF DAMAGES. TO THE EXTENT INSTITUTION’S JURISDICTION HAS LIMITATIONS ON THE APPLICABILITY OF DISCLAIMERS THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO INSTITUTION.
5. General. These terms of use shall govern Institution and its authorized users’ use of ETD Dashboard, except where otherwise agreed to in a signed written agreement between ProQuest and Institution. ProQuest reserves the right to make changes to its web-based services and these terms of use, at its sole discretion. These terms of use incorporate by reference all other notices, policies and other terms displayed in the web-based services. For the avoidance of doubt, notices and policies include ProQuest’s privacy policy, cookie policy and DMCA policy, as well as any applicable data processing addendum made available by ProQuest as applicable.
