ProQuest offers a standard, though flexible, license agreement which makes it very easy for partners to enter into a relationship with us.

What does it cost to partner with ProQuest?

There is no cost to participate.

Can I have complimentary access to my content?

We will be happy to offer you a complimentary trial subscription once your content is loaded so that you can take a look at how it appears on the ProQuest platform.

What kind of staffing and resources will I need?

We make it easy for publishers to partner with us. We will need a primary contact to work through our standard license agreement and a technical contact that will be responsible for sending the content to us. We will handle the rest.

Can I brand my content in your product with a logo that links to my website?

How can I promote my ProQuest partnership?

Content Review

How do I submit new content for review?

Please submit new content evaluation requests to and include pertinent details such as title(s), the subject areas covered by your publication(s), ISSN/EISSN, frequency of publication, average number of articles per issue, etc.

What non-English Language content can you accept?

ProQuest accepts a wide range of non-English language content and we are continually adding new languages. Please submit your content evaluation request for review and we will let you know if your content is acceptable.

Can you display images?

Yes, the ProQuest platform offers high quality image resolution. Images are automatically displayed in PDF documents. Additionally, content that is indexed in our Illustrata products benefits from ground-breaking deep indexing that pinpoints high-value tables and figures in journal articles.

Does ProQuest accept Open Access content and what are the benefits of including OA content in Aggregated Databases?

ProQuest does accept Open Access content. The benefit to the user of OA content in an aggregated database is the ability to make it cross-searchable with a wide-range of paid content; the benefit for the publisher is to greatly increase its discoverability, reach and use.

Do I still own the rights to my content?

Yes.  Please be assured that ProQuest will fully acknowledge the source of the material through copyright notice or other appropriate attribution.

What formats do you accept? Can you retrieve the content from our website?

Our preferred formats are XML, HTML, SGML, Tagged ASCII or PDF.  In most cases we can retrieve the content from your website. Our content analysts can do an evaluation to determine if this will be possible.

My journal isn’t available electronically. Do you take hardcopy?

Yes, we do accept hardcopy.  We will ask you to set up a complimentary subscription for ProQuest and notify us if the content is available in electronic format in the future.

In what kind of products will my content be featured?

ProQuest creates products for all levels of researchers – from K-12 to undergraduates to professional researchers in the government and corporate sectors. New content submissions are reviewed by a broad range of product managers for suitability. Your content may be selected for a variety of indexed or full-text products. Please contact us for information specific to your publications.

What is Summon? 

Summon is ProQuest’s library discovery service. It is essentially a Google search engine for libraries that serves as the front door to digital resources. When a library subscribes to Summon, we overlay the Summon index to the particular library holdings, and enable instant discovery of the library’s commercial, institutional and catalog holdings. By allowing Summon to index your content, you can substantially improve discovery and increase usage of your content by library users. Summon is the most  widely used discovery services in the library market today, and is the winner of a 2011 CODiE Award for Best Enterprise Search Solution.
