Trends and Policy merges content from a variety of sources and presents them in a unique interface designed to connect various policies of the United States to their trending results. This is a series of topical collections, with one new collection added each year.
Included in these collections are public laws and hearings, Legislative branch reports, Executive branch reports and data, and present day and historical news articles. The design of the product includes timelines, contextual topic pages for laws, concepts, and events, and rekeyed statistical content that allows researchers to work with the data.
Currently, researchers must use multiple disparate tools to find all of the essential executive and legislative content related to a policy. Statistical data can often be difficult to find, extract and use in research and in reports. The focus of these collections is not only on their respective topics, but also brings together primary source content relevant to U.S. policy with statistics and data from federal government sources and delivers this essential material within the context of topic pages, timelines, and newspaper articles.
Currently, Trends and Policy has the following collections:
- U.S. Civil Rights
- U.S. Criminal Justice
- U.S. Environment
- U.S. Healthcare
- U.S. Immigration
Future collections will be interoperable with these and could include topics such as criminal justice and mass incarceration, agriculture and food, terrorism, emergency management, terrorism, foreign policy, economic policy.
