University of Liverpool Joins ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Publishing Program
ANN ARBOR, MI, August 27, 2020 – The University of Liverpool has joined the ProQuest® Dissertations & Theses publishing program and will now contribute its graduate students’ dissertations and theses to ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global® (PQDT), the leading global source of emerging research from universities around the world.
Thousands of publications from The University of Liverpool, a Russell Group university and a leading research and scholarship institution in the U.K., will be accessible by PQDT users around the globe and will be broadly discoverable via citations in major subject indexes and Google Scholar. Through publication in PQDT, Liverpool’s graduate students will gain even more international visibility and recognition for their critically important work.
Dissertations and theses often provide the most up-to-date research on a particular subject and are crucial to the global academic community. Now, researchers at more than 3,100 universities from around the world will have access to the thousands of dissertations and theses published at the University of Liverpool.

By making that content available through other services like ProQuest’s well-known and highly used PQDT, we will expose our research to a wider audience and maximize its impact,” said Phil Sykes, University Librarian at the University of Liverpool. “In addition to heightening the research profile of our Ph.D. students, we hope that adding our works to this repository will create new opportunities for discovery and innovation around the globe.”

Originally created in 1939 in microfilm format, PQDT has grown to meet the increasing demand of the global research community to archive and disseminate graduate works. Their extensive bibliographies are often relied upon to surface sources that might otherwise be missed.
The fast and seamless discovery of more than 5 million works in PQDT – 2.6 million in full text – improves access to this important content. Cross-searching with other scholarly material on the ProQuest platform simplifies research workflows even further, saving time for users and broadening the scope of their searches. The full spectrum of content in PQDT is also available in ProQuest One Academic.
