Washington State University Selects Ex Libris Esploro to Streamline Research Workflows

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce Washington State University has chosen the Esploro research services solution to further optimize the university’s research workflows.

CHICAGO, IL, January 25, 2019 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that Washington State University (WSU) has chosen the Ex Libris Esploro™ research services solution to further optimize the university’s research workflows. Built on the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform the Esploro solution will become the university’s unified solution for managing all research output and data, spanning different phases of the research lifecycle as well as providing a high-level view of researcher activities.

Prior to its pursuit of an appropriate research management tool, WSU defined ways in which the library would be able to enhance research as well as intensify collaboration and engagement across the campus. In addition, the university’s requirements for a research management tool included the ability to identify grant opportunities and collect and safeguard research data and publications in a central repository.

Leveraging the library staff’s expertise in managing metadata and describing resources, WSU will benefit from Esploro workflows that describe the entire gamut of the university’s research output, from art installations to STEM data sets. The WSU Libraries will be able to engage and collaborate with university researchers, supporting researchers by automatically capturing publications and unifying the deposit of multiple-format research outputs. These automated workflows are instrumental in removing some of the administrative and compliance hurdles and enabling researchers to focus on their research product.

“The possibility of moving to a more holistic method of supporting and advancing research is exciting for WSU, and we look forward to seeing how Esploro can help us in this regard,” said Alex Merrill, head of library systems and technical operations at Washington State University Libraries, Pullman.

Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, added, “We are particularly pleased to see yet another example of a strong academic library collaborating with the office of research to streamline and strengthen research activity. Washington State University is taking full advantage of the Ex Libris Higher Ed platform to benefit its library, teaching and learning, and now research as well.”
