University of the Sunshine Coast Joins Ex Libris Esploro Early Adopter Program
ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA, May 21, 2019 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC), in Queensland, Australia, has opted to become an early adopter of the Ex Libris Esploro™ research services platform. Seamlessly integrated with an institution’s research workflows, the Esploro platform increases the impact of academic research by systematically capturing, managing, and disseminating research output and data; leveraging library expertise and technology; and strengthening compliance with institutional policies and government and funder requirements. As a member of the Esploro early adopter program, the university will collaborate with Ex Libris in the development of the solution’s functionality.
The University of the Sunshine Coast’s current research repository, which has been in place since 2007, lacked the required functionality for moving the university’s research agenda forward. To replace the repository, the university sought a holistic solution that would streamline the management of research output, improve interoperability with campus systems, and provide robust reporting and analytics features.
The university’s choice of the Esploro solution was due in part to the fact that it is built on the Ex Libris Higher-Ed platform, which is already in use at USC supporting the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform, the Primo® discovery and delivery solution, and the Leganto™ reading list solution. Library staff members have amassed considerable expertise in the administration and user experience of Ex Libris systems and are confident in the company’s ability to deliver a quality product.
By implementing the Esploro platform, particularly as more modules are developed, the university will improve the integration of the Office of Research’s disparate systems and processes. In recent years, USC has made significant gains in building its research profile; having an effective research-asset management system in place will support such growth in the long term.
