Research Libraries in Japan Turn to the ProQuest One™ Academic Database
YOKOHAMA, JAPAN, December 16, 2019 – International University of Japan (IUJ) in Niigata and International Christian University (ICU) in Tokyo have both selected the ProQuest One™ Academic database as a single solution to improve research, teaching and learning outcomes for faculty and students. These institutions are two of the first in Japan to adopt the award-winning multidisciplinary database from educational technology leader ProQuest.
ProQuest One Academic brings together more than 250 years of authoritative, curated content available across every discipline and format to one place. It encompasses the entirety of four comprehensive resources many researchers and libraries rely upon: the ProQuest Central™ database, the Academic Complete® ebook database, the ProQuest Dissertation & Theses Global™ database and Academic Video Online, creating a seamless discovery experience for researchers at all levels. Spanning more than 175 subjects, all content is available and cross-searchable within a single interface.
“At ICU, our students were already familiar with ProQuest databases, and introducing ProQuest One Academic will significantly improve access to content for our liberal arts curriculum,” said Tomomi Asano, Manager of the Public Service Group at International Christian University Library. “Due to the ease of access and the variety of content and formats available, ProQuest One Academic will enable our academic community to access information that produces better outcomes.”
“Our users prefer to search all content together from a single user-friendly access point – and they expect to find a wide variety of research materials in different formats across subject areas,” said Seiko Kojima, Deputy Manager of MLIC Library at International University of Japan. “ProQuest One Academic will make our users' experience much easier by giving them access to a wide variety of scholarly resources all in one place.”
“Japan has long been a hub of academic research, and we’re pleased to partner with IUJ and ICU to bring ProQuest One Academic to their faculty and students,” said Jim Holmes, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at ProQuest. “Multidisciplinary, multi-format content is crucial for today’s scholars – and these universities now have access to an important resource for addressing their users’ changing information needs.”
ProQuest One Academic was recently named an Outstanding Academic Title by Choice Magazine and Best Interface by Charleston Advisor readers.
