ProQuest Appoints Oren Beit-Arie to Chief Strategy Officer

Seasoned executive has vast experience in operations, product management and strategy, and played pivotal roles in the advancement of solutions for scholarly e-resource solutions.

ANN ARBOR, MI, June 18, 2018 – ProQuest has named Oren Beit-Arie as Chief Strategy Officer. After successfully leading Ex Libris strategy, he has assumed a new role overseeing the continuing development and promotion of ProQuest’s long-term enterprise strategy. Working in close partnership with general managers across the company, he will manage a comprehensive product roadmap and support the development and launch of critical initiatives.

“Oren is a visionary leader who is adept at translating strategic goals to actionable plans and fostering productive working relationships with customers and colleagues across the industry,” said ProQuest CEO Matti Shem Tov. “I’m delighted to continue working with him to develop innovative new solutions that meet the evolving needs of libraries and researchers worldwide."

Mr. Beit-Arie brings a wealth of experience in operations, product management and strategy. He is one of the primary developers of the ANSI/NISO Z39.88 (OpenURL) standard and has led the development of SFX link-resolver and a range of other solutions in the realm of electronic scholarly resources, including bX, a usage-based article recommender. In his role as Chief Strategy Officer for Ex Libris, Mr. Beit-Arie focused on strategic developments and new product initiatives. He led the vision and creation of the company’s next-generation library services platform, including the Primo discovery solution; Alma, the cloud-based unified resources management solution; and Esploro, the newly developed research services platform.

Mr. Beit-Arie earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science from The Hebrew University and a master of theoretical linguistics from Tel Aviv University. He is based in Boston, MA. His new role is effective immediately.
