Marist College to Integrate Ex Libris Alma and Summon

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce Marist College will be adopting the Alma library services platform, to be used in conjunction with the Summon discovery service.

CHICAGO, IL, May 10, 2017 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that Marist College, in Poughkeepsie, New York, will be adopting the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform, to be used in conjunction with the Summon® discovery service. Replacing the library’s Voyager® integrated library system (ILS), the combination of Summon and Alma will streamline and enhance the management of resources and increase discovery capabilities.

Through the integration of Alma with Summon, Marist will continue to benefit from Summon as the front-facing discovery service that the College’s librarians, instructors, and researchers are familiar with. At the same time, Alma will enable the library to centrally manage all of its electronic, digital, and print resources. Marist will begin implementing Alma during the upcoming months and plans to complete the integration and launch the Alma-Summon solution in December 2017.

“We are happy that Ex Libris offers an integrated Alma-Summon solution, which enables us to continue using Summon while replacing our ILS with a robust, modern SaaS solution,” explained Rebecca Albitz, director at Marist’s James A. Cannavino Library. “Alma also gives us the opportunity to move forward in developing our library systems. As a previous Intota v2 Partner, we are particularly pleased that Ex Libris has been responsive to our requests and integrated Alma with Summon to meet our future needs.”

Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, commented, “Over the years, Marist has positioned Summon as an integral part of the College’s library services and instruction on campus. The integration of Summon with Alma enables the library to manage resources more efficiently while maximizing the use of its collection through Summon. The library’s forward-looking selection of this solution reflects Marist’s confidence in the Ex Libris approach and commitment to enriching both Alma and Summon.”
