Korea’s Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) Goes Live with Ex Libris Alma Library Management Service

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce POSTECH has gone live with the Alma library management platform.

SEOUL, KOREA, March 1, 2017 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest Company, is pleased to announce that Korea’s Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) has gone live with the Ex Libris Alma® library management platform. The Alma service is integrated with the Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution, which POSTECH has been using for several years.

Ranked as the top university in Korea by the 2016 Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings, POSTECH required a cloud-based, software-as-a-service library platform that would facilitate the acquisition and management of physical and electronic resources and improve the user experience of all stakeholders. The tight integration of Alma and Primo will increase library efficiency, unify resource management and discovery, and strengthen the library’s role in supporting the research of faculty members and students.

Kwisuk Choi, director of the POSTECH library, explained, “With the combination of Alma and Primo, POSTECH now benefits from unified, streamlined resource management, discovery, and delivery. The flexibility of Alma and Primo enables us to tailor our implementation to our specific needs and workflows. We look forward particularly to using the platform’s analytics features, which will help us develop our collections more efficiently and effectively.”

Ziv BenZvi, vice president of Ex Libris Asia Pacific, noted, “We are delighted that POSTECH has chosen Alma to facilitate library management, enabling the staff to focus its efforts on supporting teaching and learning. With the integrated Alma and Primo platform, the POSTECH library can easily expose the university’s resources to the thousands of users who access its collections. We welcome POSTECH to the rapidly expanding Alma community in Korea.”
