German hbz Consortium Selects Ex Libris Rosetta Digital Asset Management and Preservation Solution

Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce Hochschulbibliothekszentrum des Landes Nordrhein Westfalen has chosen the Ex Libris Rosetta digital asset management and preservation solution.

HAMBURG, GERMANY, November 29, 2016 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the Hochschulbibliothekszentrum des Landes Nordrhein‑Westfalen (hbz) has chosen the Ex Libris Rosetta digital asset management and preservation solution to serve the consortium’s member institutions. Every one of the more than 40 hbz member institutions from North Rhine-Westphalia will be able to deposit digital collections and research data in the central Rosetta system and use Rosetta to manage and preserve these assets. The hbz consortium's efforts in the field of digital preservation are supported by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of North Rhine-Westphalia (MIWF).

Rosetta was chosen for its extensive functionality as well as its support for consortial deposit and preservation and will allow hbz to preserve and manage the academic and literary collections of its members.

“hbz needed a robust, scalable solution that would support the full range of consortial collaboration,” explained Dr. Silke Schomburg, director of hbz. “Our preservation and management plans across the entire North-Rhine Westphalia region include both artifacts and modern research output. With Rosetta, we will be able preserve a wide range of data and manage digital assets on both the consortium and institutional level. Rosetta meets our current and long-term needs, and we are excited to embark on this project with Rosetta at our side.”

“We are excited to welcome hbz to the Rosetta family,” said Matti Shem Tov, president of Ex Libris. “The tremendous range of collections that Rosetta will preserve and manage as the chosen system of hbz and its member libraries demonstrates the solution’s flexibility and scalability. I am looking forward to working with hbz to preserve the unique collections of North‑Rhine Westphalia for future generations.”
