The University of Waikato joins the growing community of forward-thinking libraries around the world using Intota, a cloud-based library services platform.

SEATTLE, WA, May 7, 2015 – The University of Waikato joins the growing community of forward-thinking libraries around the world using Intota™, a cloud-based library services platform. With Intota, ProQuest delivers transformative workflows that fundamentally change how libraries service their users.

Empowering libraries to make data-driven decisions about their collections, Intota delivers an intuitive, user-friendly discovery and access experience for patrons. Focusing on the transformation and evolution of workflows, Intota v1 addresses two major challenges libraries face today:  collection assessment and e-resource management by combining industry-leading discovery, linking, collection management and assessment in one system, built on a single, authoritative knowledgebase. The University of Waikato is eager to benefit from the more streamlined workflow and the seamless integration of Intota with their other library systems.

“We are excited to be among the first group of libraries in the world to be working with ProQuest to implement this future focused system,” says Ross Hallett, university librarian, University of Waikato. “We already successfully use a number of ProQuest products, including Summon® as our resource discovery service, and look forward to a truly new library system, designed from the ground up.”

Established in 1964, the founders of the University of Waikato fought for eight years to open a university in their community. Today, the university is home to more than 12,000 students and has continued to be a breeding ground for independent thought and progressive learning. Carrying on the legacy of daring to do things differently, the University of Waikato is the first institution in New Zealand to install Intota v1.

“We are pleased to partner with forward-thinking libraries like the University of Waikato,” states Maura Theriault, vice president global sales, workflow solutions, ProQuest. “Recognizing that Intota is the right fit for their library validates our fresh approach to designing a next generation library system that addresses the key workflow needs of modern libraries; a platform that manages electronic collections and meets the user experience expectations of their patrons.”

The University of Waikato will immediately install Intota v1 which complements print-centric systems and delivers unmatched ease of implementation, and plans to begin using Intota v2 upon its release. Currently under development, the next version of the library services platform will expand functionality to support acquisitions, description and delivery capabilities and further transform workflows for the modern library.
