Seattle – October 25, 2011 – Serials Solutions®, a business unit of ProQuest® LLC, today announced it has signed an agreement with the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) to enable the discovery of its Japan Science and Technology Information Aggregator, Electronic (J-Stage) content from the Summon™ web-scale discovery service. With the inclusion of J-Stage, researchers all over the world will now be able to discover full-text articles from peer-reviewed Japanese academic society journals for their research projects.

Developed by JST, J-Stage is the largest electronic journal platform that enables Japanese academic societies to disseminate their research and development results to the broader academic community.
J-Stage contains more than 330,000 articles and 150 conference proceedings in both Japanese and English, spanning the topics of science, technology and medicine and social sciences and humanities. Though used heavily by academic libraries in Japan, many researchers worldwide rely on J-Stage as a valuable resource of information.

“We are excited to collaborate with the Japan Science and Technology Agency,” said Mike Buschman, director of product management for the Summon™ service at Serials Solutions. “Their content is valued by researchers and libraries in Japan, and we believe the addition of J-Stage’s authoritative content through Summon will play an important role in helping researchers globally with their own scientific discovery.”

With this arrangement, JST joins the ever-growing list of content providers in the Summon™ service underscoring Serials Solutions’ ongoing commitment to make the most comprehensive discovery service for researchers around the world. With full text search for most content in its single unified index, the Summon™ service provides a superior discovery experience by allowing researchers to search its more than 750 million records optimized for discovery using the Summon™ service’s exclusive match and merge process.
