Serials Solutions Partners with Springshare LibGuides

Serials Solutions and Springshare will provide the first ERAMS-based LibGuides integration, enabling common subscribers to create LibGuides A-to-Z lists.

Serials Solutions is pleased to announce its partnership with Springshare, the maker of LibGuides. Together, Serials Solutions and Springshare will provide the first ERAMS-based LibGuides integration, enabling common subscribers to create LibGuides A-to-Z lists powered by the authoritative e-resource data of Serials Solutions® KnowledgeWorks knowledgebase.

“Serials Solutions and Springshare are passionate about delivering compelling end user experiences,” says Marc Bertone, Head of Development at Springshare. “We’ve partnered with Serials Solutions through KnowledgeWorks to incorporate the most accurate and complete knowledgebase of electronic resources into the LibGuides experience.” Springshare now uses the KnowledgeWorks XML API to incorporate authoritative e-resource information into LibGuides so that librarians can share their resource data through a robust, Web 2.0 user interface. “A LibGuide of KnowledgeWorks-tracked database titles provides an intuitive, centralized starting point for quick access to all the right resources,” says Leslie Lapham, Serials Solutions Product Manager for the KnowledgeWorks knowledgebase. “LibGuides are customizable, simple to set up, and connect patrons to resources wherever they are.” Serials Solutions and Springshare worked with beta partners at SUNY Westchester Community College, Grand Valley State University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and Mississippi State University to test the integration of KnowledgeWorks data into LibGuides.

Says Bobby Goff, Web Service Specialist at Mississippi State University Libraries, “We value KnowledgeWorks because of its proven authoritative data. Using KnowledgeWorks with LibGuides means that we are presenting the best e-resource information to library users. This integration makes creating and maintaining A-to-Z lists in LibGuides a snap.” LibGuides customers also benefit from the Serials Solutions Knowledgeworks Certified publisher certification program, which ensures that users are receiving the best possible information.

The minimum requirement to enable this feature is a subscription to LibGuides and Serials Solutions® 360 services or the Summon service, which include the KnowledgeWorks knowledgebase. There is no additional charge for integrating KnowledgeWorks data with LibGuides.

Existing customers of both Serials Solutions services and Springshare LibGuides can enable this free service by contacting Springshare at support@springshare.com.
