Ingram DigitalSM Facilitates Content Discovery with OpenURL Technology

Ingram DigitalSM, an Ingram Content Group company focused on solutions for digital content management, distribution and promotion, announces that MyiLibrary® has become a Serials Solutions® KnowledgeWorks Certified content provider.

La Vergne, TN – July 9, 2009 Ingram DigitalSM, an Ingram Content Group company focused on solutions for digital content management, distribution and promotion, announces that MyiLibrary® has become a Serials Solutions® KnowledgeWorks Certified content provider. Library users can now easily access MyiLibrary e-book titles through Serials Solutions KnowledgeWorks and 360 suite of products.

Libraries that subscribe to Serials Solutions and MyiLibrary are now able to access their content through Serials Solutions KnowledgeWorks, a comprehensive collection of 2.4 million e-books and journal holdings from almost 1,100 providers. As a KnowledgeWorks provider, MyiLibrary provides a seamless way for library users to find and access titles in its database, by delivering high-quality metadata to Serials Solutions and enabling OpenURL Linking technology.

This enhancement follows the MyiLibrary 5.0 platform release, which separates library administration functions from the library user interface and includes improved user-friendly features and a new appearance.

“We are committed to an ongoing process of updating and enhancing our platform in response to customer demand and market developments to continually improve the user experience,” said Rich Rosy, vice president and general manager for Ingram Digital Institutional Solutions.

“Serials Solutions is excited to welcome MyiLibrary as a KnowledgeWorks Certified content partner,” says Jane Burke, Vice President of Serials Solutions. “Their commitment to providing quality resource data ensures that libraries and their patrons will be able to better access and manage the extensive resources of the MyiLibrary collection through Serials Solutions suite of services.”

OpenURL technology allows users to search from a wide variety of web search engines and library products and view search results (citations). Selecting a specific citation dynamically assesses the library’s resources by creating a link to the resource copy that the library owns. Users simply click on the newly created link to access the resource.

Historically, OpenURL has been associated with journals and periodicals.  OpenURL vendors are now broadening this functionality to include e-books.
