Information Industry Experts Join Serials Solutions

Respected information and library industry experts Robert Mercer, Andrew Nagy, and Mike Buschman have joined Serials Solutions.

Respected information and library industry experts Robert Mercer, Andrew Nagy, and Mike Buschman have joined Serials Solutions. Their roles will expand leadership in both management and product development.

"There’s an ever-increasing need for effective management of e- resources, which are not only the greater portion of the library collection, but also the portion that’s growing fastest," said Jane Burke, Serials Solutions Vice-President. "To keep up with that growth, we’re making sure that we continue to expand our capabilities on the leadership and product development teams. Robert, Andrew and Mike have proven track records for outstanding contributions to our industry. I’m absolutely delighted to have them on board."

Mr. Mercer has been named general manager reporting to Ms. Burke. He has nearly 20 years’ experience in customer-facing executive positions in technology companies, consistently increasing customer satisfaction and developing value-added products and services. He joins Serials Solutions from Ex Libris, where he led the North America Group as President. He has worked around the world for both Dell and SAS, developing a global orientation that is expected to contribute to Serials Solutions continued expansion across the world. Mr. Mercer holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from University College, Cardiff, in Wales, UK.

Mr. Nagy has been appointed Senior Discovery Services Engineer. Mr. Nagy’s background has been in the areas of open source technologies and is the lead developer of VuFind, an open source internationally-adopted, next-generation library discovery application. He comes to Serials Solutions from Villanova University’s Falvey Memorial Library, where he was Technology Development Specialist. Prior to that, he worked for Syracuse University in a nationally grant-funded research department in academic technologies. He holds a Masters of Technology Management degree from Villanova University School of Business and a Masters of Computer Science from Villanova University College of Arts and Sciences and an Undergraduate degree in Information Management and Technology from the Syracuse University iSchool.

Mr. Buschman is a Senior Product Manager and comes to Serials Solutions from IEEE, where he was a Client Services Manager, providing training and promotional support to institutions that subscribed to IEEE’s online products. Mr. Buschman is widely known for his work at Microsoft, where he was a Technical Evangelist and Program Manager for Microsoft’s Live Search Academic and Book products, helping guide product development and maintaining relationships with partner publishers and libraries. Prior to joining Live Search, Mr. Buschman was the Collection Manager for the Microsoft corporate library. Mr. Buschman holds a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Washington.

Mr. Mercer and Mr. Buschman are based at Serials Solutions Seattle headquarters. Mr. Nagy is based in Philadelphia.
