Training videos from Medcom, Inc. added to ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source

ProQuest will add more than 300 videos from Medcom, Inc., a leading producer and distributor of multi-media healthcare education, to ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source.

ProQuest will add more than 300 videos from Medcom, Inc., a leading producer and distributor of multi-media healthcare education, to ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source.  This new content provides visual support for nurse training, and helps fulfill the critical need for current and comprehensive information on health and wellness.

“ProQuest is creating a path for end-users to the content that’s going to make a difference for them,” Jody Burton, ProQuest’s publisher for Health Sciences.  “In nursing education there is an acknowledged gap between theoretical and practical learning as students try to balance their time between classroom study and clinical rotations.  Video content from renowned publishers, like Medcom, helps bridge the theory – practice gap.”

Medcom, Inc. is the largest producer/distributor of nursing education video programs in North America, whose programs have won over 50 major awards for excellence.   They work closely with an active board of nurses and the American Nursing Credentialing Center.  Each video is produced with the direct oversight of expert nurses to ensure accuracy, and videos are updated regularly to ensure currency of information.

ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source will include Medcom video clips on assessment, procedure, care management, anatomy, prevention, and other nursing topics.  Videos will be broken down into clips averaging 2-5 minutes and indexed with metadata to provide highly relevant segments in search results.

ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source provides users with vetted healthcare information covering nursing and allied health, as well as alternative and complementary medicine.  This versatile database is designed to meet the needs of researchers at healthcare facilities as well as nursing and allied health programs at academic institutions. ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source provides abstracting and indexing for more than 780 titles, with over 650 titles in full-text. This database also includes evidence-based nursing content and training tools from The Joanna Briggs Institute, multicultural reports from CultureVision and more than 12,000 full text dissertations representing the most rigorous scholarship in nursing and related fields.
