ProQuest Continues Partnership with The Lancet® Premier Medical Journal
ProQuest has renewed its exclusive aggregation agreement with Elsevier to make The Lancet®, one of the world’s most prestigious medical journals, available to subscribers of ProQuest’s popular health sciences databases. This partnership means The Lancet® is available in full-text. In addition, the full text of two further essential journals will also be aggregated only through ProQuest – The Lancet Infectious Diseases and The Lancet Neurology. Yet a fourth key resource for medical practitioners, researchers and students, The Lancet Oncology, will be available to ProQuest users in full text as well.
“The agreement is part of ProQuest’s ongoing strategy to support its STM customers with highly respected and authoritative titles,” said Mary Sauer-Games, vice president of publishing for ProQuest. “The Lancet® is widely considered to be one of the most influential medical journals in the world. We’re pleased to continue our partnership with Elsevier to advance and improve web-based medical research.”
“We’re very pleased that the continuation of this agreement enables even more students, researchers and practitioners to access The Lancet®, The Lancet Oncology, The Lancet Neurology and The Lancet Infectious Diseases through the ProQuest platforms,” said Harriet Bell, Publisher at TheLancet.com, “Elsevier is delighted to have worked with ProQuest in providing this resource.”
The Lancet’s® publishing history includes reports on numerous medical breakthroughs since 1823, including shell shock therapy, penicillin, and birth defects to more recent medical advancements such as the description of a new variant of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and the identification of coronavirus as a possible cause of SARS. The Lancet® is also known for its independent, authoritative voice in global medicine. Its commitment to international health is delivered through research and analysis from all regions of the world and thought-provoking opinion pieces are communicated through three editorials every week.
New in 2009, researchers will have access to three more Lancet journals – The Lancet Infectious Diseases, The Lancet Neurology and The Lancet Oncology. These monthly journals contain review, opinion, original research and news covering international issues relevant to clinical infectious diseases specialists, neurologist, and clinical cancer specialists.
The Lancet® journals will be available to subscribers through ProQuest Medical Library™, ProQuest Health and Medical Complete™, ProQuest MEDLINE with Full Text, ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source, and ProQuest Pharma Collection. The ProQuest Health Sciences portfolio has seen significant developments in 2008 and additional unique resources are planned for 2009.
