Author Resolver Enriches KISTI's National Digital Science Links

RefWorks-COS is pleased to announce that the Korea Institute for Science and Technology Information (KISTI) has implemented Author Resolver service within its National Digital Science Links (NDSL) to expand upon the benefits of its members' subscription to COS Scholar Universe.

BETHESDA, MD, December 3, 2009 – RefWorks-COS is pleased to announce that the Korea Institute for Science and Technology Information (KISTI) has implemented Author Resolver service within its National Digital Science Links (NDSL) to expand upon the benefits of its members' subscription to COS Scholar Universe.

The core information resource for the entire Korean science and technology community, KISTI became one of the first consortia to subscribe COS Scholar Universe, an editorially controlled database of over 2.3 million profiles of faculty, researchers and authors from across the globe.

Author Resolver is an author disambiguation utility that connects author names in electronic databases to profiles in COS Scholar Universe, using proprietary algorithms to accurately match names to profiles.

Alone, COS Scholar Universe is an invaluable resource, providing keyword-searching to find experts in over 200 disciplines, just about anywhere in the world. Profiles include a breadth of information including current and past positions, online presences, publications and statements of research interests. Now with Author Resolver, users can search any of KISTI's information resources and simply click on an author's name to see their full scholar profile.

"The KISTI National Digital Science Links is the sort of implementation we envisioned when we developed Author Resolver," says Colleen Stempien, Executive Director of Operations for RefWorks-COS. "With just a click, researchers can expand their exploration by learning more about the work of the authors of important research and their articles. RefWorks-COS and ProQuest appreciate KISTI's early long-standing support of COS Scholar Universe, and we are proud to be a part of KISTI's work in supporting Korea's science and technology community."

In addition to implementing Author Resolver, KISTI has also renewed its COS Scholar Universe subscription for the entire consortium through 2010.

"We believe that the addition of Author Resolver will help our users more easily locate specific information about the authors within the NDSL service. And provide our users with opportunities to learn more about the authors and their research in an effort to identify and pursue potential collaboration with them. The Author Resolver service will be an effective tool to raise the level of user satisfaction for all NDLS users," says Mr. Beom-Jong You, Director of Knowledge Resource Department at KISTI.

For subscribers of COS Scholar Universe, Author Resolver links to complete scholar profiles. For non-subscribing publishers of online collections, Author Resolver will produce concise profiles of the authors, providing information about current positions and most recent publications.
