Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest, today announced the release of 360 Search Usage Reporting, a free enhancement that allows libraries to track resource usage through 360 Search federated search service. Usage Reporting enables librarians to analyze usage trends with graphically and textually represented statistics, then use this information to create the best possible search experience for library patrons.

Libraries make major investments in electronic resources and need to know how they are used as a basis for securing funding, making new purchases, and maintaining the library’s electronic collection. By using 360 Search Usage Reporting, librarians can record which resources are searched the most and establish patterns of use to better understand patron behavior. Based on this information, libraries can modify their 360 Search interface to create better workflows or shape their collections based on usage trends.

“We’ve designed 360 Search Usage Reporting to be the best federated search reporting service available,” says Stephen DiStasio, Product Manager at Serials Solutions. “When used in conjunction with the extensive customization abilities of 360 Search, Usage Reporting gives you the power to define a search experience shaped to fit the needs of your library’s patrons.”

360 Search Usage Reporting features an intuitive interface that enables libraries to:

  • Discover peak search usage and patron sessions through Annual, Monthly, and Daily Search Reports
  • Find out which resources are searched the most by analyzing how many searches were submitted to each resource in 360 Search through a Database Activity Report
  • View statistics reports in both graphical or textual representations

360 Search Usage Reporting will chart historic search data back to January 2007.

The new Usage Reporting feature is available free of charge to all 360 Search subscribers.
