RAPid and SUMARI now available through the ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source

ProQuest is pleased to announce that two resources supporting evidence-based nursing study and practice from the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) are now available through ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source. The services are RAPid and SUMARI.

The demand for high-quality evidence-based nursing resources is rapidly increasing for both the study and practice of nursing.  ProQuest supports efforts of organisations such as the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) and is helping to meet the needs of the nursing community by adding evidence-based health care resources to ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source.  Roger Tritton, Senior STM Publisher at ProQuest, said, ‘RAPid and SUMARI are both invaluable tools that can help medical libraries support faculty and researchers in developing their own expertise in evidence-based practice.’

RAPid teaches students to critically appraise evidence using established data collection tools and offers the possibility of publishing appraisals in the form of refereed reports.  SUMARI is a developing software package designed to assist health and other researchers and practitioners to conduct systematic reviews with evidence of Feasibility, Appropriateness, Meaningfulness and Effectiveness and to conduct economic evaluations of activities and interventions.

In ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source there have been significant developments in response to nursing library needs.  As well as providing Systematic Reviews, Best Practice Information Sheets and Evidence Summaries from JBI, users have access to over 11,300 full text nursing dissertations, Study Paths written by nursing educators and cultural competency reports from CultureVision.  Additional unique resources are planned for 2009.
