ProQuest has just launched its second edition of Twentieth-Century American Poetry, which will grow to be the largest electronic collection of twentieth-century English-language American poetry in existence.

ProQuest has just launched its second edition of Twentieth-Century American Poetry, which will grow to be the largest electronic collection of twentieth-century English-language American poetry in existence. Upon completion, Twentieth-Century American Poetry, Second Edition will include more than 100,000 major contemporary poems from the U.S. in a single, intuitive search framework.

"This new collection gives us the opportunity to extend and update our existing poetry collections, particularly our coverage of the multicultural voices of contemporary American poetry, and to add major figures such as John Ashbery," said ProQuest Vice President of Publishing Mary Sauer-Games, The breadth and depth of ProQuest's full-text poetry collections offer researchers unprecedented access to the whole range of American poetry from across the twentieth century"

Twentieth-Century American Poetry, Second Edition combines ProQuest's existing Twentieth-Century American Poetry and Twentieth-Century African American Poetry databases with another 500 volumes of poetry. These combined sources total more than 1,400 volumes of poetry from over 400 poets, including such major figures as John Ashbery, Amiri Baraka, Rita Dove, Langston Hughes, Denise Levertov, Audre Lorde, W. S. Merwin, Charles Olson, Ezra Pound, Adrienne Rich, Wallace Stevens, Jean Toomer and William Carlos Williams.

The works in Twentieth-Century American Poetry, Second Edition, ware accessible via both simple and expert searching, including Boolean and wildcard operators, truncation, "near" and "followed-by" word searching.  As in Chadwyck-Healey's other poetry collections, a "Complete Contents" browse allows seamless access to the complete full text for known works.  Remote researcher needs are addressed with 24/7 off-site access, citation software support, and marked lists for emailing, printing, or saving. Durable URLs are used, allowing for bookmarking and placement of links into pages from WebCT, Blackboard, or other courseware solutions.

Library needs are supported as well with the Z39.50 compliance and downloadable MARC records standard to all Chadwyck-Healey Literature Collections, which enable easy linking to and from the OPAC and other resources.

Twentieth-Century American Poetry, Second Edition, is available as a standalone literature collection and as an upgrade for customers who own other 20th Century poetry collections..
