2007 news release announcing Serials Solutions announcement of enhancements to medical resources within the company's knowledgebase, including the development of XML connections to PubMed and MD Consult for 360 Search federated search service and the addition of Evidence Matters as an OpenURL enabled source for 360 Link OpenURL link resolver.

Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest CSA, has announced a series of enhancements to medical resources within the company’s knowledgebase. The improvements include the development of XML connections to PubMed and MD Consult for 360 Search federated search service and the addition of Evidence Matters as an OpenURL enabled source for 360 Link OpenURL link resolver.

360 Link and 360 Search are a part of Serials Solutions 360, an integrated set of e-resource access and management services that enable libraries to optimize their electronic resources and improve their patrons’ research experiences.

“These most recent improvements highlight the variety of resources available to the medical community through Serials Solutions resource discovery tools,” says Steve DiStasio, Product Manager at Serials Solutions, “We are continually making efforts to improve the resources we have available and work with vendors to enable new connections.”

The upgrades to PubMed and MD Consult are part of Serials Solutions overall effort to improve connections and provide a greater number of accessible resources. Over the course of the year, Serials Solutions has improved the quality of linking to full-text resources via 360 Search by developing new enhanced XML gateways, among them MD Consult and PubMed.

Serials Solutions regularly acts as a resource to help vendors understand how they can enable OpenURL for their resources.  Evidence Matters, an evidence-based medical search engine, proactively contacted Serials Solutions to inquire about supporting OpenURL.

“It was easy to work with Serials Solutions and set up Evidence Matters as a referring source for 360 Link,” says Patricia Bejerman, Marketing Manager at Evidence Matters, “We’re glad to be able to support 360 Link users in the medical community with a new resource that provides quick access to therapy options for patients with a confirmed diagnosis.”

PubMed  and MD Consult are also available as referring sources for 360 Link, while MD Consult and PubMed Central are available as targets.
